Invitation to Training on Afghan Arrival Categories, Documentation, and Verification Through SAVE
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) are holding two training sessions for HUD staff and HUD grantees only (Public Housing Agencies and HUD-assisted Multifamily owners and property managers) regarding the Afghan arrivals who have entered the U.S. through Operation Allies Welcome (OAW). OAW is an ongoing effort across the federal government, led by the Department of Homeland Security, to support vulnerable Afghans as they safely resettle in the United States.
USCIS administers the SAVE program, an online service that allows benefit-granting agencies to verify a benefit applicant’s immigration or citizenship status. The training will provide information and resources regarding Afghan Arrival categories, federal benefits they may be eligible for, documentation that they may present when applying for benefits, and how to verify their immigration status or parole using SAVE.

These training sessions supplement the monthly trainings offered by the USCIS SAVE program for current and prospective SAVE users. Please attend one of these monthly trainings and/or be familiar with the SAVE prior to attending these OAW-specific trainings.
Please note that USCIS and HUD will not record the training or distribute a copy of the presentation. However, much of the training content is available in the USCIS SAVE OAW Fact Sheet.

7. You will receive a confirmation email with additional information including how to submit questions in advance.

IPM in Multifamily Housing Course
The HUD-supported StopPests in Housing Program is offering a live online course for housing professionals offered Thursdays, April 21st - May 12th, 2022 (full schedule below)
(there is no charge for this course) Course description: The IPM in Multifamily Housing Course was designed to help housing professionals understand their roles in supporting safe and effective pest control in their communities.
The course outlines:
* how to manage pests within a housing community using effective strategies
that pose no risk or minimal risk of pesticide exposure;
* the major health risks posed by common pests;
* the biology and behavior of the major pests of housing (bed bugs,
cockroaches, and rodents);
* and how to troubleshoot pest control failures.
If 5 or more staff members from the same HUD-assisted housing site (public housing authority/commission, section 8, 202, 811, or tribal housing department) complete the course we'll send you a box of pest control supplies including printed resident resources, traps, and monitors. If you have less than 5 staff members, let us know!

These webinars are interactive, including polls, chats and Q&A. Sessions will generally run for 90 minutes but timing may vary depending on attendance and participation levels. We have scheduled two hours for each session.
